Did you attend this month’s Pennsylvania Land Title Association Annual Convention? The Association brought the meeting “back home” to Pennsylvania and centrally located at the beautiful Hershey Hotel. With a “No Place Like Home” Wizard of Oz theme in the “Sweetest Place on Earth” the event was sure to be memorable – and it was!
Even with the challenging economy this year, the convention was well attended. Conventions allow us to stay current on important topics and to learn some new things. This year, speakers such as Michelle Korsmo of the American Land Title Association and David Friend, Esq. of the Consumer Finance Protection Bureau shared important and relevant information with attendees.
Conventions are also a time to touch base with business associates and industry friends. I was very pleased to have the chance to strengthen some key relationships and to see good friends. Were you in attendance at dinner when the large hot air balloon centerpiece on my table popped? It was the “shot heard around the banquet room!” And despite popular opinion, I had nothing to do with the balloon popping … I swear! After the BANG, my tablemates and I couldn’t even remember what we were discussing beforehand, but everyone enjoyed a good laugh about it. And we recognized important contributors to our industry for their efforts on our behalf – Dallys Novirina, recipient of the James G. Schmidt Distinguished Service Award and Chuck Nowicki, recipient of the Albert E. Pentecost Award for outstanding service to the Association.
This year’s theme came to life and the educational sessions were excellent because of the terrific job done by the convention committee. Special touches were evident all around that brought Wizard of Oz to Hershey. The venue choice was perfect and afforded attendees with many options for recreation, such as the pool, golf and of course the amusement park. I brought my family to the convention, which was the very first time they accompanied me to such an event. My family enjoyed Hershey Park (almost as much as I did – as evidenced by my 23 total rides on the various rollercoasters in the park!). My children also enjoyed the spacious pool and absolutely loved the butterfly garden at the hotel.
Thanks once again to Francine D’Elia Wirsching, Convention Chair and her dedicated and resourceful committee. Signature Information Solutions was proud to have served as Emerald Sponsor this year and we are always happy to show support for the PLTA. On a personal note, I thoroughly enjoyed the convention from both a business and personal perspective - and I hope that you did also! What was your favorite memory?
